Rebuilding Investor Confidence

Mutual Recognition Conference Call - March 20, 2008 Printer Friendly Version

The Securities and Exchange Commission is considering adopting some form of "mutual recognition" that would permit certain entities and individuals in other countries to access the U.S. capital markets and provide financial products or services to U.S. investors without being subject to SEC authorization, oversight and enforcement. On March 20 at 2:30-3:30 PM EDT, the Council of Institutional Investors held a teleconference for members about mutual recognition and its likely impact on U.S. institutional investors. The main speaker on the call was securities law expert Professor James D. Cox of the School of Law at Duke University.
