Many trustees consider CII conferences as a whole to be valuable educational opportunities. But CII also hosts training and other events specifically for trustees. In conjunction with the CII Spring 2018 Conference, CII and the CFA Institute are pleased to offer the latest in our series of educational programs for new and experienced fund trustees. The March 12 program will focus on three key elements of fiduciary fitness: fiduciary skills, investment skills and current and emerging practices. Pension fund trustees are welcome to register for the course at a special reduced rate of $395 (the fee for non-CII member trustees is $595).
Pension fund trustees are also invited to attend a private dinner and roundtable discussion on March 12, at 7:15-9:00 PM (ET) at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.
The Trustee Roundtable Dinner, which is free and open just to trustees, will be chaired by Marc Levine, chairman of the Illinois State Board of Investment. It builds on the success of CII’s first trustee roundtable, held in conjunction with our fall conference in San Diego. The dinner will be a great a great opportunity to network and share ideas with fellow trustees in a relaxed setting.
The roundtable will kick off with a short overview by CII senior staff of how the Council supports pension funds through updates and analysis of important shareholder concerns that can affect your fund’s value, educational materials and programs, advocacy on critical federal regulation and legislation, access to proxy voting guidelines of other funds and more.
Afterward, trustees will dine privately and discuss issues that are top-of-mind. Marc welcomes your thoughts about what you would like the group to discuss, so please feel free to suggest topics when you register for the dinner. We look forward to seeing you there!
