The Covid-19 pandemic currently roiling the global economy is causing many companies to rethink capital allocation. In an effort to weather the storm, numerous companies have temporarily suspended dividend payments and begun reviewing previously set stock repurchase plans. Even before the crisis, there had been increasing focus on capital allocation practices and decisions, with particular controversy surrounding stock buybacks.
This CII webinar focused on dividend payments, stock buybacks, research and development, human capital investment, capital expenditures and debt management. The processes that boards and management use to set capital allocation and the adequacy of corporate disclosure on this issue were also discussed.
