Council of Institutional Investors

US Asset Owner Application

Annual dues for CII's voting members are billed on a calendar year and are calculated based on total assets (AUM) in employee defined benefit and defined contribution plans. Where possible, CII uses figures reported annually by the Pensions and Investments (P&I) Research Center.  For retirement plan assets, we base dues on total defined benefit (DB) plus defined contribution (DC) assets (or only DB or DC plans if the organization does not have both). U.S. Asset Owners may choose between two membership types, both of which are calculated based on current AUM:
  • All-inclusive or "Bundled" Membership: Dues are caluclated at $.95 per $1 million in AUM with a minium of $5,000 annually and a maximum of $31,000 per calendar year. This membership type includes access to all of CII's private database, newsletter, events, research and resources along with conference attendance passes "bundled" into one price.  Complimentary conference attendance limits* are based on the following annual dues scale:
  1. $5,000-10,000 = 3 conference attendees per event
  2. $10,001-$14,999 = 4 conference attendees per event
  3. >$15,000 = unlimited attendees
  • Unbundled Membership: Dues are calculated at $.65 per $1 million in AUM with all of the benefits stated above but conference attendance fees are paid separately. This membership type has a minimum dues level of $3,500 and a maximum dues level of $24,800.

* Pension fund trustees from member funds may attend all CII events free of charge.
